Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat

This perennial favourite from Guys and Dolls is one of those songs that would not have worked as a vehicle for barbershop contest in earlier times, but does these days and makes a cheerful audience-pleaser with plenty of opportunities for entertaining performance.

The arrangement follows the form of the original, with its three iterations of verse and chorus, giving the third verse to the bass part, and following stage versions that extend the final chorus with a playout. The main challenges come from the song itself (which is quite long and quite wordy), and the arrangement keeps the lines streamlined and primarily homophonic to allow the singers to focus on telling the story.
